Nestled into a beautiful bay on the Red Sea, a new resort is rising in Egypt called Sahl Hasheesh. This spectacular new development has recently seen the first hotels and resort properties open, with more on the way. Hotels, villas and homes, golf courses, movie theatres, entertainment, night clubs and more are all located at this exclusive new resort along the coast.

Sahl Hasheesh is just 20 kilometers south of the Hurghada Airport and located along a 12 kilometer-long bay of the Red Sea. The climate here is nearly perfect year round, with averages in the winter around 14ºC and in the summer approaching 30ºC. There will be an Old Town with bars, shops and restaurants at the heart of the new development, as well as medical facilities, water sports and a sunken city for divers and snorkeling.

The first golf courses are scheduled to open in 2008, with the Old Town opening its first shops and clubs in mid year as well. Several hotels are already open, including the Pyramisa, The Oberoi and Palm Beach Piazza.

There are a number of properties that are under development or have recently been available for residents to move in. The Sunset Pearl Golf and Beach Apartments consist of 450 apartments along one of the golf courses near the sea and beach. 1, 2, and 3 bedroom apartments are available here as freehold units. Prices start at £40,000 for these units.

The Serrenia Resort is being designed by Sir Norman Foster and his company, Foster + Partners. This ultra luxury community is located at the southernmost tip of land along the bay and will have its own marina, hotel, golf course and private island with luxury palaces. Serrenia will also have one of the world’s most luxurious spas, plus a children’s club and beach club. Properties here begin with 1 bedroom apartments and move up through penthouses and private villas. There is something for everyone in this luxury development.

The Palm Beach Piazza, El Andalous and Ocean Breeze are three other developments that have all recently opened or will in the near future. The Palm Beach Piazza is a combination apartment and luxury hotel with 1 and 2 bedroom apartments available along the beach that is now open for purchase and move-in. The Ocean Breeze has both apartments and villas and is near the new marina. These properties will be available for move-in later in 2008. El Andalous is located next to the Pier adjacent to Old Town and will be located right on the beach. This luxury property will be open in the second half of 2008.

For those who are interested in visiting Sahl Hasheesh, The Oberoi, a new luxury hotel, is now open. This hotel offers transfers from the Hurghada airport and has a private beach, spa, fitness center and swimming pool.

To get to Sahl Hasheesh is very easy. It is less than 20 kilometers south of the Hurghada Airport and about a 6 hour drive from Cairo. To Cairo is 510 kilometers and escorted convoys depart three times a day. Luxor is 240 kilometers to the west and take about 3.5 hours to drive. A ferry from Sharm el Sheikh to Hurghada crosses four times a week and takes 1.5 hours.
