Cairo is known as the “Triumphant” city and they have been making great strides in property development as well as opening the market up to overseas investors interested in purchasing property for investment. The metropolis area is home to about 15.2 million people. 

Tourism is alive in well in Cairo and the government is pushing to increase it. With some of the oldest artifacts in museums and the pyramids, thousands of tourists visit the city and the surrounding area each year. The city is the center of Egypt and there are several museums that attract the visitors as well as the Nile River. There are also several universities that attract students from all over the world. Several castles and the city of nearby Giza are also popular tourist destinations. In 2004, the city of Cairo was rewarded for their tourism efforts by having the largest number of tourists to date.

Property in Cairo ranges from stunning sea properties to dessert resorts. The majority of real estate investment is focused on the city and the outlying resort areas. There has been a housing shortage for low-income Egyptians, which has resulted in many poor Egyptians living in the local cemeteries. There have been many of the world-renowned foreign property investors coming into Egypt in recent years. The property in Egypt is currently low but is growing quickly. The city is looking to commit itself to overseas investors for long term. They are enacting several new reforms in the areas of customs, income and corporate taxation to make the area more valuable for both investors and citizens. This growth should allow for more employment and wealth amongst the people. Foreign property investors will be able to benefit the city as well by providing housing for these citizens. The government is committed to economic growth and stability.
